Shop the Look with Alina Interiors – Calming Bedroom

ufurnish.com is working collaboratively with the inspirational e-designer Sophie Barnden of Alina Interiors.

Alina Interiors was founded by Sophie Barnden, who has been whirling through the world of interior design for three years, building lasting relationships with clients and bringing a fresh take on home transformation. Affordability is at the heart of Alina Interiors' mission, formulating a possibility for everyone to visualise how their dream home could look no matter the budget. Since the start of her career, Sophie has won two awards for 'Best Design' for her photorealistic 3D renders; these renders are created for clients as part of their design package, along with a thorough, on-budget shopping list linking directly to products so purchases can be made with the click of a button. Giving clients a realistic perspective on how their home will look before taking the full leap, visualisation is a certainty with Alina Interiors.

Sophie’s latest project focuses on elevating the residential space as Spring inches closer, giving a seasonal lift whilst maintaining a long-lasting sense of comfort. Here, we take a closer look at the 3D renders created for the master bedroom as Sophie discusses some of her styling choices – better yet, you can shop some items via ufurnish.com to recreate the look in your own home!

Spring refresh

With a focus on giving this space a Spring refresh, I wanted to bring together a calming yet uplifting feel by utilising an earthy colour scheme. With this bedroom boasting a good amount of natural light throughout the day, I opted for a slighter darker hue for the paint, using Farrow & Ball’s Calke Green to enhance the colour in the daytime whilst simultaneously allowing for a warm, comforting atmosphere in the evening. Green tones not only have positive psychological qualities, but also marry beautifully with wood to really intensify the earthy mood; wanting to add some character to the space at the same time, I chose to fit wooden wall panelling to act as both a feature wall and a decorative headboard.

The products

As mentioned in my ‘3 Trends to Look Out For in 2023’ article, muted colours, warm woods and statement lamps are expected to be a big theme throughout the year. The Textured Glass Table Lamps from John Lewis add an opulent feel to the space whilst blending beautifully into the colour scheme, thanks to the subtle green hue of the mottled glass base. As a bonus, they use LED bulbs making them more energy-efficient! They sit atop Dunelm’s Georgi Bedside Tables which not only offer functional storage solutions, but combine a sleek, modern matte black finish with a beautiful oak effect shelf and matte gold legs – all of which tie in delightfully to the client’s scheme, whilst the ribbed detailing blends in with the clean lines of the wooden panelling for a streamlined look.

When designing a space and adding colours, I like to employ one colour or shade that can be found across the smaller details to really tie everything together and create that all-important sense of harmony. For this design, black details can be spotted throughout – with one example being merged with an oak effect finish on the Nomad 6-drawer Chest from Habitat, which sits beneath the Kanso Round Metal Framed Wall Mirror, also from Habitat. I decided on the placement of the mirror as it navigates the eye around the room, leading from the chest of drawers upwards to the shelves, which have been added in to create a subtle reading nook for cosy evenings. Decoration and functionality combine for the Giselle Fabric Occasional Chair from Dunelm, which gives an elegant, natural addition thanks to its mango wood finish and rattan backing.

This small space has been packed with beautiful, functional pieces to create a sanctuary of serene which floats blissfully from day into night. Spring is a symbol of transformation, making it the ideal time for a home refresh.
