Swift Direct Blinds has been furnishing UK homes since it began back in 1969. From humble beginnings, the business has become one of the UK’s most recognisable blinds and curtains companies. Our CEO, Deirdre Mc Gettrick, sat down with Swift Direct Blinds’ Kate Duckworth, to learn more about the inspiration behind their business.
Q1. I have to start by asking this question: Is it true that Swift Direct Blinds was started and run at the back of a Post Office?
Actually yes! In 1969 Alan Swift started the business from the back room of a post office, where he was also the postmaster. So our name comes both from the Swift family and how quickly we can manufacture quality blinds!
Q2. The business started in Huddersfield and remains there today with it’s talented team members. Tell me what makes Swift Direct Blinds special?
Swift Direct Blinds is special because we manufacture ourselves and sell directly to our customers. Our products are made by a team of people who have a genuine passion of their work. We’ve built up our expertise over the past 50 years, so Swift Direct Blinds has always been ahead of the curve when it’s comes to understanding its customers and producing high-quality made-to-measure blinds & curtains.
Q3. Swift Direct Blinds offers solutions for every room in the house. Can you share some of the most popular product ranges and installations that people are getting for their home?
We have a key focus on design and interior trends, but actually many of our best- selling blinds are classic designs that can suit any home. Our customers rely on our product quality, and their stand-out favourites such as our white venetian faux wood blinds, are versatile to use in bedrooms, living rooms and they’re waterproof for bathrooms and kitchens as well.
Q4. Can you tell us more about SizeSure cover and what that means for consumers buying from Swift Direct Blinds?
Measuring for blinds is easier than most people think, so we encourage our customers to measure windows themselves to save them money compared to other retailers. When they take out SizeSure cover, we want to reassure customers and give them peace of mind that if they do make a measuring mistake, it won’t cost them anymore. SizeSure is simply a measurement insurance, so if you do make a slight mistake when measuring for your blinds, we’ll replace them free of charge.
Q5. Are you able to share with us some of the most luxurious locations that Swift Direct Blinds products have been installed in?
Over the past 50 years our blinds have been installed in people’s homes as well as some well-known celebrities, TV shows and films. Customers often tag us in their photos on Instagram and we love seeing how they’ve styled the blinds and curtains, and how luxurious their homes are!
Q6. What’s coming up in the future for Swift Direct Blinds for ufurnish.com’s community to be excited about?
