Apply a high-quality wood sealant or stain every 1–3 years. Inspect for cracks, loose fixings or signs of wear, tightening or replacing hardware as needed. If painting, use a durable exterior wood paint designed for treated timber. Trim climbing plants to help prevent excess weight and trapped moisture.
