To designe this lovely baby quilt I was inspired in a children's motif expressing respect for diversity & tolerance, as well as play & fun. I called it Hand in Hand because it reminds me a game I used to play with my sons when they were kids, a kind of domino with children holding hands. I designed the children's pattern myself & I did it using the paper piecing technique that consists of sewing pieces of fabric on paper following a design. Once sewn, the paper is removed. The rest of the quilt is a wholecloth. I like to use in my works fabrics with low volume prints & bright colors that give to the quilt a luminous & happy look. Measurements are aprox. 37x37and can be used as a baby lap quilt, a play mat, a stroller blanket or a wall hanging. Made from 100% cotton fabric (top an back). Filled with Warm & Natural cotton batting. Stitched & quilted with cotton thread in a little sewing machine in my smoke-free home study. The binding is double folded with mitered corners & machine stitched to the front, then folded over & hand-stitched to the back for a professional & durable finish. Care: Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle with like colors. I recommend add a color catcher (available in grocery stores) to pick up any loose dyes from the fabric. Tumble dry on low or delicate, or lay flat to dry. With laundering, it will gain texture & the typical crinckled look of the handmade quilts. There is no need to iron, just shake it out & with use the wrinkles will fall out. Some fading may occur as a result of washing & over time, wich is typical for these types of fabrics. Although I do not use any filters on my pictures, colors may vary due to computer monitor or device variations. Customization: It takes me one or two weeks to do it, depending on the amount of work that I have at that time. I can add a hand-embroidered tag on the back with the name, date or sentence you want.
