I made these pillows from my experience of impressions of Hawaiian culture. :' + o .o: HOKU means the star, Also I made a LE'A pillow for this HOKU pillow to match LEA means happy, HOKULE'A is the name of a Polynesian double-hulled voyage canoe. A replica of the Hawaiian ancient voyager canoe, Hokule'a, succeeded in their special voyage from Hawai'i to Tahiti & across the Pacific ocean with only star navigation, first voyage being in 1976. Hokule'a is very important in the Hawaiian Renaissance movement, & symbolic of Hawaiian culture. ': .: ' : + . All words are an original typography design by me. I like to hand sketch & design the word because that already has an original vibration, & mana, which is spirit. I choose to use the organic form in the Hawaiian language. I learned how to quilt from Hawaiian tutu (grand mother) in the Big island. So all of my pillows are hand stitched by me with Hawaiian Quilt technique.
