Dala Horse Bowl, Quaich in Blue, Viking Horse Bowl

This Dala horse inspired drinking bowl reflects the ancient folk art of Northern Europe. It can be used as a quaich, ale bowl, a serving bowl or a decorative sculpture. This piece measures 8 1/4 x 4 1/4 x 5 & I have designed & sculpted it completely by hand from white ceramic earthenware clay. It was not pulled from a mold. I have finished the bowl with rich, ceramic glazes. Please look closely at the photographs & notice the nuanced levels of color. You will see A combination of beautiful Robin's egg blue & flows of sea blue with violet clouds over the terra cotta base layer. The inner bowl is gem-like in its beauty. The glaze gathers & pools in the cracks & recessed areas of the design. in this piece, I have used the imagery of the Dala Horse, a beloved folk art expression of the importance of the horse in these historic European cultures. I created ancient Celtic or Pictish patterns in the raised area of the outer bowl. I took my inspiration from historical cultures that produced a rich legacy of Medieval & folk art. Eastern & Northern European & the British Isles - all delightful & deeply meaningful to me. This bowl has been created for a person who has a fondness for art, Medieval history & ancient cultures or who may have strong connections to folk art. Simply heat your drink in a microwave-safe cup then transfer the liquid to your Dala Horse drinking bowl. Please hand wash this item. This bowl can be used as a beautiful candle holder.
