The Highland Cow: A Symbol of Strength & Resilience Throughout history, the Highland cow has been a symbol of strength, resilience, & perseverance. These hardy animals have thrived in Scotland's rugged landscapes & unpredictable weather, embodying the unyielding spirit of the Scottish people. Highland cattle can survive in the harshest conditions, grazing on rough, otherwise unproductive uplands. Their ability to flourish with minimal human intervention makes them ideal for sustainable, low-input farming. A well-loved folktale tells of a farmer who rescued a distressed Highland cow, only to discover that she possessed magical powers. As a reward for his kindness, the cow brought him prosperity & good fortunefurther reinforcing the breed's deep association with generosity & goodwill. Handcrafted in Fine Pewter This collectible pewter Highland cow figurine has been hand-cast by William Sturt in lead-free Fine Pewter. Measuring approximately 2 cm in length, it has a beautiful deep luster that requires no upkeeppewter will not tarnish, rust, or flake. The Art of Pewter Craftsmanship William has been working with pewter for over twenty years. He first learned the craft from a master pewter artisan who specialized in ornate picture frames. His pewter is of the highest qualityentirely lead-free & nickel-free, ensuring it is safe for sensitive skin. If needed, it can be gently cleaned with soap, water, & a soft cloth. Each new piece begins as a hand-carved master, sculpted from materials such as wax or wood. From this, William creates a mold using a vulcanizer, which heats & compresses pure silicone around the original. Once fully cooled, the mold forms an exact negative of the hand-carved design. Next comes the most intricate stagecutting tiny ducts into the mold. These channels allow molten pewter to flow in smoothly while ensuring air escapes, crucial for a flawless casting. Once the mold is perfected, William spends time refining & testing it before beginning the casting process. Using a centrifugal spin caster, he produces the final pieces, which are then cleaned, polished, & carefully inspected. Finally, each figurine is boxed & sent to its new home, ready to be treasured for a lifetime.
