Hand sewn cushion cover made from a piece of William Morris's Bullerswood design printed on a viscose linen mix. Bullerswood fabric is inspired by a carpet hand-woven at Merton Abbey & exhibited by Morris & Co. at the 1893 Arts & Crafts Society exhibition. This original design probably came from the enormous Persian original hung by Morris in his dining room at Kelmscott Hous.e & is likened to a traditional Persian 'vase carpet'. ( quote from William Morris,. website ). The cover has been piped in a matching cotton & there is a choice of fabrics available for the reverse. All the seams have been double sewn & four stitched overlocked for strength & there is a concealed zip beneath the piping on the reverse for ease of opening. As there is an 7 inch ( 18 cm ) border on either side of the fabric this design is available with either a left or right facing panel.
