This is a one of a kind sculpture of a woman figure, holding a flower & looking as she's waiting for someone to come. This is hand built & hand painted sculpture which I made at a time I was waiting for my husband to get back from a long journey he took to the Himalayas. I didn't have contact with him for almost two weeks while he was climbing a mountain & I was worried. Everything ended well & he got back home happier than ever, but I do remember myself with this hard anticipation to hearing his voice saying he's off the mountain. We find ourselves waiting for someone to come along, or waiting for something to happen. That's part of life. For me, it is all about how I spend my time until it happens. Do I sit down & wait or do I do something to make it happen? Do I sit & wait or do I keep myself busy?The answer is almost always: I do! & how lucky I am to have my studio, so I can let my feelings & thoughts go right into my artwork! Making this sculpture, I used beautiful yellow clay with tiny black pole in it, oxide, bright ceramic colors, one of my favorite glazes (the green one I used for the shirt) & plenty of my emotions.
