This rustic desk is made with high quality & sustainably grown timber. We source all of our timber from our local sawmill. Our suppliers always guarantee their timber products are 100% FSC certified. The wood is kiln dried which eliminates any movement or warping / splitting like lesser quality types of wood such as scaffold boards. This ensures that your studio desk will last for years & years to come, even with daily use & heavy equipment loaded on it. Choosing measurements When deciding the size of your studio desk, it's important to know the dimensions of the keyboard / piano / synthesiser you are planning to use with it. For the width of the desk, we recommend at least 12cm wider than the width of your keyboard. Please include the keyboard dimensions (Width x Depth x Height) in an order note so we can make the keyboard compartment height to measure. Choosing Legs The height of the legs will be a very important factor to the final height of your desk. There is always a small compromise when it comes to height measurements for studio desks. 71cm height is the standard height for desk legs. This will provide a comfortable amount of leg room & a very comfortable height for playing the keyboard / synth. However, it also means that that the desktop where the typing keyboard & screen monitor are, will also be increased to a higher than standard height. The alternative is lower height or adjustable height legs. The lower legs will provide slightly less leg room but will also bring the desktop level to a more comfortable height for typing & screen monitor. These variations in the wood are to be expected & celebrated & we promise that they will not affect the functionality or structural integrity of the piece. in truth, these little imperfections enhance the unique character of the furniture which means that you can be certain that no other piece will be exactly like yours. Kiln drying the wood properly reduces splitting & warping but because wood is living, its moisture content will fluctuate based on the humidity of its surroundings & will cause some natural movement. Our products are thoughtfully designed, manufactured & finished with care, to allow for this natural movement of the wood. A simple assembly will be required to install the legs.
