"Cast Concrete Head Sculpture "

These heads are the first in a series of cast concrete figures I refer to as 'Middlemen.' They represent those people who exist between the producer & the consumer & exact a large percentage of the benefits of production. The image of the grouping of these heads that are on my shop page was selected for ArtPop in Charlotte, NC. The image appeared on billboards & news racks in Charlotte throughout 2017. The video I posted illustrates a bit of that experience. The cast concrete sculptures represented here, 'Middleman I,' are sold separately (1 individual bust) & come in a choice of natural concrete or a black patina. Both versions are coated with a concrete sealer when completed. As these are hand crafted & tinted, the color & texture will vary slightly from what is pictured. They are 7.5 tall & 8.5 x 8.5 at the base & weigh about 16 lbs each. They are great for both indoor & outdoor locations. I begin these forms by creating the original sculpture out of a non-drying, oil-based clay. I then make a rubber mold & a plaster mother mold (designed to hold the rubber mold in place when the original form is removed). Finally, I complete the project by casting the form in concrete & staining the surface in order to enhance the texture. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
