The Petal Scale Wyvern Egg is constructed from polyvinyl coated felt, peach colour chiffon, steel pins & a polystyrene foam core. Its nest is made with genuine gemstones polished by the artist: ocean jasper (For relaxation & calming, it's said to promote feelings of happiness while helping to release negative energy) & granite hand collected by the artist at the edge of the Canadian Shield. The gemstones are affixed to a dense cardboard frame & coated with epoxy resin. A Petal Scale Wyvern has scales that curl forward, making the animal look kind of like a pine cone, or the petals of a flower. This omnivorous species is laid back & will often accept gifts of fruit from human hands. A hot blue flame is the animals main defence, but it rarely needs to use it; a quick, small body (approx. four feet long) allows them to slip away from most trouble. Their nests can be found in a variety of make shift shelters such as caves, barns, abandoned buildings & larger garden sheds. Hatchlings arrive in the autumn & resemble little piles of crumpled leaves. They immediately start foraging for food around the nest site as their mothers usually abandon the nests pretty quickly.
