This sculpture is used for my chrismascard. The beautifully shaped loose pieces bark of the Sycamore (plane)tree form the basis of this work of art. The bark pieces are stuck together with wax, formed around a cardboard tube. This whole is cast in bronze & colored with different colors grey-green-brown as a lively patina. It is made slightly shiny with a copper brush & a bit beeswax. The structure of the bark on the outside is completely intact. At the top, after removing the casting channels, I prepared the bronze bark as much as possible in the original state. The trunk is not standing right completely, depending on from what angle you look at him. This sculpture can be a useful product design by adding a candle or a glass of water to make a vase out of it. Specially with a candle the effect is amazing The image is 22 cm. (8.7)high & has a diameter of 10 cm. (4) Weight is 1340 grams, about 3 pound. Using material from nature works very inspiring On the last photo is a same kind of trunk in a larger size is still in the original bark with wax behind. This can also be cast in bronze to make a beautiful work of art. The original multi colored bark trunk with wax behind, is beautiful to. It is possible to impregnated the bark & wax so that it can serve as a quite strong sculpture. It is not comparable with bronze & it is better not to use it for a candle You can certainly find a nice spot for this unique work of art. I make a was-form first, you can use all kinds of materials, as long as it can burn. I like to use materials from nature.
