THE PROCESS: This piece was made using a LIVE leaf cast in fine cement which captures every detail thus creating a fossil. The cement-colored fossil is then painted & sealed in a special non-toxic clear sealer which protects it from UV & water. My pieces are INTENDED to hold water & will stand up to both rain & sun - but never freezing water. Some folks will allow art to stay out in freezing weather but ANY art can be susceptible to cracking. Many finish colors can appear differently in bright sunlight versus shadow & indoor versus outdoor light. Consider using bright colors or unusually vibrant pieces for shade garden use. To use it as a butterfly bath, put sand in the bottom of the bowl with water just slightly higher than the sand.
