Quick note about tariffs & VAT: For US clients, I handle all export paperwork & tariffs, so what you pay at checkout covers everything. You won't face any unexpected duties or hidden costs when your piece arrives. For customers in other countries, no sales tax will be collected, but local VAT may be collected by DHL en route. It's a percentage collected on declared value, & not prohibitive. My aim is to make international shipping as smooth & transparent as possible, so you can focus on enjoying a handmade piece that will last for generations. The Quilpo Lounge Chair (pronounced: KIL-po) is an original design, hand crafted in solid wood & select Argentine leather. This listing if for the set in Black leather. The chair in black is an option on my sling chair listing. I wanted to show off some more photos so I created this listing as well, but do check out my other listings for more shots in natural leather, & message me for other leather color options: brown, cream, white, burgundy. A more detailed video of this chair: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_brGeD_ZNDU Also a a video of my shop processes here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2adKyAAt214&t=44s One continuous leather sling eliminates pressure points, & the frame gives just enough to help the leather spring back as you settle in. The chair's striking lines & finished suede back show well from any angle, but the most enjoyable perspective is from within: your hands on the silky finish of the polished hardwood frame, your body cradled in the dynamic support of the sling. Have a look! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvLatipbzGw) The design is a bow to the European mid-century-modern masters while solidly couched in a Latin-American design tradition; dense & figured woods intersected by a generous sling of tanned full-grain leather. Its curvilinear members meet, press & pull against each other at the service of the seated, it's a pleasure to relax in & only gets better with age. The Quilpo Lounge Chair's wedged tenon joinery is beautiful, & easy to assemble (a link to a how-to video is included). This fascinating joint is one of the oldest known woodworking techniques. It's a classic to both eastern & western schools of construction; examples have been found sealed for thousands of years in Egyptian tombs as well as other ancient structures from around the world. Thanks to these joints, the chair is solid, yet surprisingly light & easily moved, shipped, & maneuvered through hallways & doors. Each chair is hand signed & numbered. The Zoita wood that I use is a dense honey-colored hardwood that's stunning in a hand-rubbed oil finish. This price includes a chair & ottoman, see my other listings for the chair as a stand-alone piece. I flat-pack for shipping via DHL in a custom built wooden crate. in the unlikely event that something is damaged in shipping, I'll replace it right away. I'm a Brooklyn, N.Y. born (and trained) woodworker now living in Argentina. I designed & build these chairs - & other pieces- in my studio here in the mountains of Cordoba in central Argentina.
