Technology First, glass blanks are created in the glass furnace at the glassworks. These are shaped freehand & mouth-blown at approximately 1200 degrees Celsius. in the studio, the glass blanks are refined; the glass surface is coated with colored transparent glass paint, which is then fired in a chamber kiln at 600 degrees Celsius. in deep-cut engraving, the motif, mistletoe, is engraved into the glass surface using diamond wheels. When selecting his motifs, Wolfgang Schmid is primarily inspired by nature. Thus, motifs from the world of plants, such as mistletoe, ginkgo, poppies, & roses, can be found in his works.
