Description

This timeless blue & white striped pillow cover features a vintage Japanese silk kaku obi, a belt worn by males with a kimono or yukata. The traditional striped design is called Kenjo & each pattern has a meaning: the thick lines represent parents & the thin ones their children. The thick lines enclose the thin ones, representing the parents' protection & care towards their children, & in the middle the thin lines enclose the thick ones, representing the children's care & duty towards their parents. The obi is complemented by ivory raw silk on the front & backed in natural flax linen. Finished with an invisible zipper at the bottom & fully lined in cotton fabric. Measures 11 x 15 & fits a standard 12 x 16 feather insert. Hand made in the USA. A matching pillow cover cut from the same obi is also available through this listing.
