The Odd Skink

A skink is a smooth skin lizard with short legs. Some species have no legs at all. & they are found in most parts of the world. The Odd Skink has a reddish streak that starts just back from the head to the tip of its tail. This natural streak enhances the wood grain of the skink to make the lizard more life like. It has two front legs. One very small , while the other is a bit longer. That is the way of the skinks. It is on a curvy base that lifts it up as it would look like when climbing over a rock. It is easier to view the entire piece without having to turn it this way or that way. It is a fine example of a true skink from a tree root. The tree roots grow & shape themselves into pieces of art that only they can do. I search for some of their best works & when I find one I take off all the dead & decayed parts, clean it & make a few adjustments to bring out the character then sand & do a little more sanding & shaping & sand some more until I determine it is time to rub on a finish. The Odd Skink would be a nice addition to a developing collection of wood sculpted animals. A lizard loving person would be pleased to add this to your lizard collection. The Odd Skink
