"Driftwood Sculpture ""One-Armed Robot"

Named for its naturally sculpted shape, the One-Armed Robot sculpture reminded me of a '50s era futuristic robot. But one who must have had an unfortunate accident. I found this piece of driftwood while walking along my favorite Lake Superior beach & was inspired by its fun, unique shape. It is mounted on two complementary colored basalt stones, found on the same beach. The driftwood in this piece is intentionally unfinished, as the natural shape, color, & texture is superb as is. Like most people, I am drawn to the driftwood that lies scattered along the shore its natural abstract beauty & rich, unknowable history intrigues me. There is something almost magical about it. From seed to tree to a chunk of wave-tossed, sun-bleached wood at the end of its life & a mere fraction of its once grand size it is beauty transformed.
