Scottish Peak - Installments Gladly Accepted

This is my piece honoring the heavy work horse. in this country, it's known as a Belgian. More correctly, the Belgian Heavy Draft. To be even more correct, the Brabant, for the region in Belgium where they were heavily bred. This animal, in its' day, was one of the most influential & famous European heavy horse breeds. in the Middle Ages it was known as the Flanders horse. I've enjoyed witnessing its power & eagerness to have at the enormous weights accumulated on the sleds at the rural horse pulls. I've also enjoyed the pride on the winning owner's face as he works in tandem with these powerful yet gentle animals. Our big boy here is all decked out in his show day finery. My title, Scottish Peak, refers to the peaked collar around his massive neck. in his stylish harness, he's ready to take his place with the team, perhaps pulling a brewers dray in a parade. Behind those blinkers are a pair of big brown eyes. He also sports the traditional bobbed tail of the pulling breeds. This was so as not to become tangled in the reins as a longer tail might while swishing around. He stands about 30 high from ground to peak & about 41 from muzzle to rocker.
