Red Cards- Hanging Vertical Sculpture - Red & White Mobile

This hanging sculpture is a set of 7 strands hung on clear near invisible tacks. This piece was originally a deck of bicycle playing cards. After many hours of intricately cutting each card with scissors & hanging them on clear fishing line, this is what you have. The 7 strands can be easily rearranged for new looks & to fit into new spaces. This piece can help delineate space in a room without taking it up. Hang it clustered over a lower seating area or hang it in a line between a dining & living room like area to keep the open plan & flow of the room but still create separate spaces. This piece, like all of my hanging sculptures, allows for multiple levels of viewing & discovery. You can look at the piece as a whole & how the strands interact with one another to create a whole piece. You can also view each strand more carefully & see how it in itself becomes a pieces & how to individual cards on the strand interact with one another. Then as you look even more carefully, you can see the individual cards & begin to see them & the detail of the cutting of each card & how this interacts with the beautiful patterns on the card itself.
