This hand knit baby blanket pattern is reversible & can be knit in sizes stroller, baby, small, medium & large. Size US8 needles are recommended but you may use a larger needle for a more light & airy blanket, or a smaller needle for a warmer, denser blanket. You can use any DK, worsted or aran weight yarn. Skills needed are knit, purl, cast on, bind off & weave in ends, & a pattern suitable for advanced beginners. Worsted Weight yarn is recommended with size US 8 needles to reach a gauge of 18 stitches = 4, or 4.5 stitches to the inch. Acrylic, Cotton & Washable Wool all work well. How much yarn should you buy? Using worsted weight yarn & assuming a gauge of 4.5 stitches to the inch: (estimates are approximate) Stroller: 600 yards for 22 x 28 Baby: 800 yards for 28 x 36 Small: 1200 yards for 38 x 42 Medium: 1700 yards for 48 x 60 Large: 2200 yards 60 x 80 The pattern features an easy to remember 6 row repeat.
