This amazingly detailed hand carved weathervane was recently made by internationally collected artist SR (Shawn) Tyler. This weathervane is made as a fusion between realism & primitive folk art. The subject is a dog, either a golden retriever or Irish Setter, with lovely carved & shaped features & lavishly carved fur. The wood is stained a dark walnut color, allowing the growth rings to telegraph through the stain, adding an additional abstract element. Beautiful, charming & in a mostly realistic rendition, this carving is mounted on a beautiful bubinga base, & on the base this sculpture is about 24 inches long & about 18 inches at the tallest point.
