Thick Wool Accent Rug Soft Throw Mat

This rug is a unique & incredible item made of natural sheep wool only in the region of the Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine. We call it lizhnyk. The texture of the rug can't be repeated, because of its handmade nature, it is handwoven with a special wooden loom. How it is made: (See video in my shop) To make one medium sized blanket or rug we had to work long & hard. I use only natural wool from sheep that were raised in the high Carpathian mountain pastures, & natural dyes. At first you have to wash & dry the wool thoroughly, the comb it with a special tool, which makes the wool puff up & resemble a cloud. The combed wool is easily manipulated & made into threads (called rovnytsi), which are then used to make a lizhnyk on a loom (handmade looms are mostly used in the mountains). The woven product is then placed in a special device - called 'valylo', a huge wooden barrel, narrowed down to the bottom. Water is then piped in with great force. The flow of water rapidly rises, creating a whirlpool in which the blankets spin for hours. After this process lizhnyks become tight & fluffy. Material: 100% natural wool Recommended care: - The item made from 100% sheep wool. You should use dry clean only. - It can be cleaned using cold or slightly warm water; the water must drain off by itself.
