Fish Trio

An example of an idea that came to me when I was trying to fall asleep on night. The first fish sketch was what you learn to draw in elementary school, that accentuated figure 8 fish. I built off that silhouette by giving attention to the ribs & fins. I wanted the tail to be its own idea but still coordinate with the head. The curve of the head & tail are almost identical to keep the flow simple. Each fish has their eye in a different spot to give them each individual personalities. I've noticed that everyone seems to gravitate towards one over the others & find a favorite. The vertical bar gives structure & allows the fish to be one unit. It is also symbolic of waves in the ocean, giving the piece a feeling of movement. You may notice the top & bottom of the vertical rod are raised off of the wall, as are the top & bottom fish.
