Welcome my Pili Vida Nichos series. I have always been fascinated by lockets & being able to see into things. Knowing you have something that you treasure inside. Nichos give me that same feeling. Skulls & skeletons are also something I have always spoken to me & I love the memento mori art. While visiting Mexico, I was drawn into the Day of the Dead (Dias de las muertos) & inspired to do my version of skulls & skeletons. It was in Mexico that I found nichos & realized immediately that this would be the vessel to house my sculptured artwork & enhance it - not only does it showcase it, it also protects & houses my art. Unique one-of-a-kind art piece. Embellished with aluminum roses. The door opens up so you can see a cameo with a detailed skeleton couple emerging. Eternal love. This cameo piece is made of clay & hand painted. It is securely attached & suspended inside the nicho to be floating to give a more 3D effect. The back of the nicho has a hook that will allow you hang it on your wall.
