Silver Oil Lamp With A Gini Handle

This is a functional lamp in which a wick can be placed to burn oil. Of course, the silver will tarnish from the heat. Setting function aside, let me say this piece combines the elements that I enjoy putting into my work. Those elements include detailed sculpture, fantasy, & a sense of whimsy. This is a technically difficult cast work but the results are worth it. I textured the body of the lamp & kept the Gini handle smooth & reflective. It is a weighty work of six troy ounces, & I envisioned it to be an heirloom piece for generations to appreciate & enjoy. Using the smoky image of the Gini to form into a handle allowed me to accomplish two elements of the work at once. The stopper suggests flames completing the overall fantastical concept. The measure of length is 5 5/8 inches, two inches in height, & 2 3/8 inches wide. This can easily be a centerpiece of anyone's collection of curio pieces. Silver Oil Lamp With A Gini Handle
