Deer Fawn

This is a pear shaped gourd that depicts a young white tailed deer fawn hiding in the woods while the mother doe is foraging. The fawn has a curious visitor, a deer mouse, to keep it company. Close to the mouse is a jawbone of a deer that met its demise in the previous year. The base of the gourd depicts two sets of antlers that are intertwined which I interpret as the deers struggle to reproduce. I strived to create this gourd to reflect the circle of life in a subtle way. Deer Fawn
