On the 21st of October 1805, Admiral Horatio Nelson led the British fleet to one of the most decisive naval victories in history at the Battle of Trafalgar, breaking the combined French & Spanish fleet & ending Napoleon's ambitions of invasion. Nelson did not survive to see the victory. Shot by a French marksman aboard HMS Victory, he died knowing the battle was won.
