Yamato () was the lead ship of her class of battleships built for the Imperial Japanese Navy shortly before WW2. She & her sister ship Musashi, were the heaviest & most powerfully armed battleships ever constructed. Yamato was dispatched on a one way mission to Okinawa in April 1945, with orders to heroic fight until destroyed protecting the island. She was sunk by American carrier-based bombers & torpedo bombers with the loss of most of her crew. Yamato lamp is made from salvaged solid beech wood with pop color in the front.
