Quilpo Dining Bench. Sculptural Seating Handcrafted in Argentina

Quick note about tariffs & VAT: For US clients, I handle all export paperwork & tariffs, so what you pay at checkout covers everything. You won't face any unexpected duties or hidden costs when your piece arrives. For customers in other countries, no sales tax will be collected, but local VAT may be collected by DHL en route. It's a percentage collected on declared value, & not prohibitive. My aim is to make international shipping as smooth & transparent as possible, so you can focus on enjoying a handmade piece that will last for generations. The Quilpo Bench is solid, beautiful, & equally at home paired with the Quilpo Dining Table or as a stand-alone piece in an entranceway, living room, bedroom, as a coffee table or a in a kids play area etc. The bench's bevels bend from bottom to top as they make their ways across the bowed sides. You'll find yourself running your palms over the silky surfaces of this hand-rubbed piece - it's got just the right bends & curves & the leather straps securing the tenon's wedges look & feel great. The Quilpo Bench's wedged tusk tenon joinery is beautiful, & easy to assemble (a link to a how-to video is included). This fascinating joint is one of the oldest known woodworking techniques. It's a classic to both eastern & western schools of construction; examples have been found sealed for thousands of years in Egyptian tombs as well as other ancient structures from around the world. Thanks to these joints, the table is rock-solid, yet easily moved, shipped, & maneuvered through hallways & doors. Each bench is hand signed; the bench pictured here is in Zoita, a honey colored dense semi-tropical hardwood, & I'm offering this bench (and the Quilpo Dining table) in a beautiful lighter-weight hardwood sustainably farmed & harvested in Argentina called Persian Lilac. I've yet to make this design in Persian Lilac, so I've included a detail shot of that wood from another piece. It's a striking light colored wood that mellows to a golden beige with age.
