"Sculpture ""Late Insight"

Sculpture, Skull Late Insight - hanging object Year of origin: 2009 Material: Jena alabaster, polished, partly leaf-gilded. Late insight belongs to a series of related forms that deal with the topics of seed & egg, embryo & seedling, navel & folds, skull & capsules, dream & sleep, etc. An illustration shows several of these pieces in a synopsis in the so-called Seminarium. The title refers to the trepanation (medical skull opening) lined with gold leaf. This work was based on a specimen from the Anatomical Collection of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. The drawing of the skull sutures & an (fused) trepanation are modelled on the original. Presentation: - place this sculpture on a soft piece of fabric, fur, felt or similar that visually conveys to the underlay - the hand-friendly stone surface invites you to touch. - as a wall relief: On the back of the sculpture, holes are inserted in such a way that the relief can also be hung on the wall on a nail or screw pointing slightly obliquely upwards. It is recommended to use a discreetly colored wall or a discreetly monochrome cloth stretched behind it in order to optimally accentuate the effect of the shape & the material structure. A white or generally too light background is not recommended. The supplied felt cord gently frames & envelops the sculpture. Height: 9 cm, Width: 16 cm Length: 12 cm Weight: approx. 3 kg Important note: - Jena alabaster is not suitable for outdoor installation - rainwater attacks the surface & destroys the structure over time. - Protect from heat above 100oC - no heat stone; Do not place in or on the stove: Alabaster sweats crystal water at high temperatures & goes into the unextinguished state (hydraulic gypsum).
