I won two world titles doing this. My work creating relief reproductions of ancient Egyptian & Chinese sculpture for the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto got me thinking & excited about the possibility of employing relief sculpture to depict birds. Perhaps my favorite bird to depict. There is a deep magic to this animal which I can't explain except perhaps through art. Intelligence. Intent. From my original sculpture in soft clay, I make a silicone mold which captures the tiniest detail. Into this mold,liquid hydrostone plaster is cast. When the plaster cures the resulting sculpture is hand painted by me to create a unique work of art. No two in this edition are ever exactly alike.
