Often conspicuous because of its strong pattern, harsh calls, & active behavior in semi-open country, it tends to occur in small colonies. Although it migrates only short distances, little groups of migrants may be noticeable in early fall & late spring. Once a very common bird in eastern North America, the Red-headed Woodpecker is now uncommon & local in many regions. About the Miniature: Approx 1-1.5 long Bird Miniatures have been intricately painted with acrylic paints & topped with 2 coats of glossy sealer, with an additional layer of high gloss sealer for the beaks & eyes.
