In Greek mythology, Caerus or Kaerus was the personification of opportunity, luck & favorable moments. He was shown with only one lock of hair. His Roman equivalent was Occasio or Tempus. The relief is from an unknown Italian artist of the 17th/18th century, after an original by Lysippos of the mid-4th century B.C. It is located at The State Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg. This reproduction is carved from a solid block of the finest Greek marble.
