The nature is so varied & wonderful that it's impossible for me to avoid creating something without imitating it. This time helped me two trees, the cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) for the stem & the twisted willow (Salix matsudana 'Tortuosa') for the hat. When a cypress tree in the garden died I couldn't imagine that a log piece would have been so fascinating. But when I removed the bark, I changed my mind. Believe it or not, this white wood has not received any treatment, it has dried naturally preserving all its brightness. Like all wood used in furniture, this will perhaps darken slightly when exposed to direct sunlight, but its material appearance will remain unchanged over time. The twisted willow gives me every year fabulous branches with sensual sinuous shapes. I embellished the fronds of my luminous tree with green wire, rolled up in delicate springs, & glass flowers recovered from a vintage chandelier. What I wanted to achieve was the movement: the springs gently sway in the wind just like the trees leaves! in this table lamp you can use either a decorative filament bulb or a common energy-saving bulb. Since the ordinary light bulb is unattractive, I built a sort of glass bead cap that can easily be inserted & removed from the bulb. The final effect is romantic, full of charm & very original. I do not have another piece of cypress dried & preserved in this way, so this object is a unique piece. The electrical part is up to standard.
