Mr. Rufous Hummingbird, Needle Felted Bird Fiber Sculpture

The Rufous Hummingbird is the feistiest hummingbird in North America. This tiny bird is extremely territorial at all times of year & attacks any visiting hummingbird, including much larger species. They will even chase chipmunks away from their nests! Mr. Hummingbird has been carefully needle felted using sheep's wool & great care has been taken to accurately depict his markings. Needle felting is a time consuming process where wool is repeatedly poked by a single barbed needle until the desired shape is formed. He stands on sturdy wire feet & is life size at 3.5 inches in length & has glass black eyes. Note - I can also make one flying as an ornament as shown in the last photo with Mr. Ruby Throated Hummingbird.
