Hebridean Skies is a collection of hand-painted velvet cushions inspired by the shifting light & wild weather of Scotland's Outer Hebrides. Each piece captures a fleeting atmospheric moment - Stormlight gathers, fades, & returns; clouds drift through silver & indigo. These cushions are painted in response to that shifting light each one a fleeting weather, held on velvet. Every colourway Stormlight, Moor Mist, Sea Drift, Winter Cloud, Peat Smoke captures a different atmosphere of the islands. The brushwork is instinctive, layered directly by hand, allowing pigment to move & settle like passing clouds. Using silk velvet as a painter's canvas, I work with layered silk paints & brushwork techniques to translate the emotional weather of the Hebrides into tactile form. No two cushions are the same - each is painted by hand, making every piece a one-off artwork for the home. Soft-edged yet rich in depth, these cushions are designed as contemplative objects: part landscape painting, part textile, part heirloom. They sit beautifully in quiet, textural interiors & make evocative additions to seasonal home styling - especially during the darker winter months.
