Taken from a carpet design Designed by John Henry Dearle, Montreal was one of the most understated, yet the most woven of all of the oriental-style carpets produced by Morris & Co. Produced in both Hammersmith & Axminster versions, the originals would have been woven with contrasting borders of either red or blue ( quote from the Morris & Co website ). All the seams have been double sewn & four stitched overlocked for strength. It has a concealed zip under the piping on the reverse for ease of opening.
