This is a decorative lobster coat hook, mounted on Devon driftwood. I collect the driftwood from the beaches of Sidmouth, Devon where I live. I then wash it, & let it dry naturally. This is an attractive, heavy piece of wood, with natural shipworm holes, & barnacles attached - obviously it has been in the sea a long time. I have cleaned & sanded it, & given it a few coats of varnish to protect it, & bring out it's natural colour. The driftwood has a cast iron lobster hook attached, that makes an ideal coat hook. This could also be used as a towel hook. This is a heavy piece, & It is securely strung on the back with jute cord. Each item I make is unique, & you will receive the piece that is pictured. This is a medium sized work of mine, measuring 55cm ( 21 1/2 in.) high, & 14cm, ( 5 1/2 in. ) wide. The depth is 5cm ( 2 in. ), & the hook itself protrudes 8cm ( 3 1/4 in. ) from the wall.
