This beetle is printed using the linocut technique. It is a traditional printing technique similar to the stamp process. Here, a pattern is engraved in a linoleum plate, a natural material composed of linseed oil, resin, cork, wood & lime. in order to engrave the desired pattern one or more gouges are used. Then, the ink is deposited on the engraved surface which is then covered with the support on which the print is desired. Thus, each print is unique. The paper used is handcrafted by me. To do this, I create a meeting between traditional methods of creating papers based on locally harvested plant fibers, as well as more modern approaches to recycling paper used on a daily basis.
