I use the photos as a guide to capture the essential features of your pet - but of course, in my own style. After the figure is complete, I'll send you a photo for your approval. The figure then dries for about two weeks. Afterward, I hand-paint it with an underglaze, some of which I mix myself. This is followed by the first firing at over 900 degrees Celsius, before I apply a transparent glaze & fire it a second time at 1050 degrees Celsius. This process takes several weeks - the figure is usually finished after about five weeks, but during busy periods or due to unexpected issues, it can take up to eight weeks. Before I ship the figure, you'll receive a photo of the finished candle holder. MY STYLE: Creative & charmingly imperfect My handcrafted candle holders are distinguished by their creative shape & color. My style is deliberately imperfect - this gives each piece its unique charm. - I design the figures in a simplified & illustrative style - not realistic sculptures, but an artistic homage. - The candle holders are anatomically incorrect. The candle holder heads are flat in profile, not round. On the body-shaped candle holders, the heads are enlarged in proportion to the body. I often mix my own colors, but the final shade is not entirely predictable & only becomes apparent after the final firing. Underglaze work is tricky. - Due to the underglaze, the glaze may become rough in some places, especially on larger black or white areas. - The final size of the figure is not exactly predictable, as the shrinkage of the clay during the firing process varies. - All candle holders are branded with my name on the back.
