ABOUT THE ART The Unicorn Rests in a Garden (1495-1505) is part of a set of seven wall hangings known as The Unicorn Tapestries from the late Middle Ages. Woven in fine wool & silk with silver & gilded threads, the tapestries depict scenes associated with a hunt for the elusive, magical unicorn. However this textile may have been created as a single image outside of a set, as the unicorn is in a happy confinement among a pomegranate tree - a medieval symbol of fertility & marriage.
