Its lead black glaze has a texture like volcanic lava & a slight silver touch. Fired in a gas oven at high temperature (1,250 degrees). It can withstand any high ambient temperature (hot & cold). It is a very resistant piece due to its material & its high-temperature firing. The interior of the pot version is not glazed so that it does not lose porosity, & the ikebana version is glazed on the inside to conserve water inside.
