This & the following figures in my gallery were inspired by the wonderful exhibition catalog Aklama - Helping Spirits of the Ewe & Dangme from the Horst Antes study collection. The simple beauty of these figures & their cultural background, in which they could also be considered everyday helping spirits, corresponds to the fundamental feeling with which I carve my figures. The inner peace that fills me while working with the material & crafting the figure carries the figure into everyday life, where it can serve as a mirror & resting point for my own thoughts. The dimensions of this figure are approx.: 23.8 cm high, 5.5 cm wide & 2 cm deep. The height including the base is approx. 31.2 cm, the dimensions of the base: 7.6 cm x 5.7 cm x 3.7 cm. The wood is maple. Unlike the photos, the base is made of stained & varnished wood.
