Crafted from an extremely rare vintage embroidered indigo textile from the Tai Lu / Tai Lue hill tribe of Laos, roughly mid 1970's, this beautiful indigo lumbar pillow is full of ethnic hill tribe character. Tai-Lu people are division of the Tai-Kham-Sui-Kadai, who originated in Yunnan area, China. Tai means 'people of', so the word following usually states which area they are from. Tai-Lu people finally migrated to Northern Laos from Yunnan area around 10 A.D. [ Details ] The one-of-a-kind textile features gorgeous hand embroidered intricate motifs & geometric shapes in a lovely mix of brown, bronze & autumn shades, on a a handwoven plant dyed base with a colorful border, again hand stitched, adorned with traditional circular hanging pieces. Of course, being from roughly the mid 70's, the fabric has a worn & rustic look with small marks, tears & otherwise as you can see in the pictures which only serve to add to it's rare vintage beauty. Front is made from a traditionally handwoven, plant dyed & hand embroidered Tai Lu textile. Gorgeous vintage / rustic look & indigo base, bordered by twin hang areas.
