This one of kind east meets west rug is made from a handwoven ikat textile, recycled denim, & a handwoven blanket. These handwoven fabrics come from the island of Bali, Indonesia & are typically used in ceremony or everyday life. They are handwoven by the women, an ancient art typically passed down from mother to daughter. This rug mixes western & Asian cultures together into colorful art that is also functional. This is a vintage, cotton textile made by hand on a wooden loom. A labor-intensive art of where the weaver also dyes the threads used to weave the textile. & at this time, many weavers were also spinning the thread! I bought this one way away from the touristy parts of Bali where the people lead a more simple life & weaving is part of that. This rug has 3 layers, so it is nice & heavy. Machine washable/dryable, although I would recommend washing in cold & laying flat to dry. I would wash it sparingly, though as the dye may be natural & could fade over time.
