My Daughter Allie caught this Trout & we did our best to record the catch on paper. 10 x 22 or 18 x 40 Gyotaku is the traditional Japanese method of printing fish, a practice which dates back to the mid-1800s. This form of nature printing was used by fishermen to record their catches, but has also become an art form of its own. We painted what we saw on the fish with Speedball Inks then pressed it on to a thin rice paper. We pulled 3-4 prints & selected the best one for this piece of art. I print these prints on a heavy etching paper, which allows me to distress them in my style to make them look like a surviving document from the 1800's. After distressing, each piece is unique in its own way. Prints will ship in a tube. Speck Fish Rubbing 10 X 22 +; Gyotaku; Speckled Trout; Prints; Japanese Style Prints
