The patterns on the pillows are inspired by the molas which forms a part of traditional outfit of a Kuna woman from Panama. As an inspiration for their designs, the Kuna first used the geometrical patterns which have been used for body painting before. in the past 50 years, they also started to depict realistic & abstract designs of flowers, sea animals & birds. I have taken the geometric patterns & used embroidery technique to create the mola inspired pillow covers. The back is plain solid brown color to match the front.
