This novelty accent lamp was created from an upcycled wine bottle & an acrylic skin decorated to resemble a ladies dress. The lampshade is decorated as her hat with a ribbon & flowers. It reminds me of an old-fashioned 'church lady' or Mama dressed in her Sunday best. The lampshade is a 'clip on' & can be tilted for a little added whimsy. The lamp is 11.5 inches tall from the base to the bottom of the socket. The shade is 5 inches wide at the top, 12 inches wide at the bottom (including the hat brim) & 8 inches tall. The overall height of the lamp with the shade is 19 inches. It has a 6 1/2 foot white electrical cord which can be pushed into the lamp to shorten to desired length. Suggested bulb wattage is 25 watts, but a smaller decorative 40 watt bulb can be used provided the bulb remains at least 2 from any point of the lampshade. (Bulb is not included.) An LED bulb of higher equivalent wattage can be used as they produce little or no heat. I created the acrylic skin for this lamp by spreading out paint leftover on my palette after finishing an abstract painting. Once the paint is dry on the palette, it can be peeled off & glued down on to another painting or any other surface. The elasticity of the acrylic skin allows it to be molded to any shape or form. This particular skin, when I saw it on the bottle, reminded me of a ladies dress, so I decorated it by adding buttons, a paper-lace collar, a small flower 'pin' & a beaded necklace. She then, of course, needed a hat to complete her outfit. The lampshade is made from an off-white heavy paper with tan 'fibers' visible throughout. I added the brim & ribbon from an old straw hat & trimmed it with flowers & more red beads to match the necklace. The red flower is hand-made from a hand-dyed paper towel. The yellow flower is hand-made from crepe paper. The other small flowers are ready-made fabric trimmings. This unique, one-of-kind accent lamp is a great conversational piece. It would also be ideal as a gift for any woman that loves her hats or as a reminder of 'days gone-by'. Note, the lamp & shade will be shipped separately.
